A Bridal Emergency

December 23, 2016

While we always hope that an emergency doesn’t happen, we can never plan for everything that might happen on your wedding day. Which is why it is important to have a back up for things that can go wrong on your wedding day. While you can’t control things like the weather or if the catering company messes up, or if the florist brings the wrong bouquet, there are a few things that can be controlled! One of those things is how you handle things when a crisis happens! And the best way to do that is with a positive attitude. I know it sounds a little childish to say things like that and in the moment it is so hard to be positive about all of the bad things that are occurring, but if you can adapted that attitude, your day will be even better than you expected!

And one thing that the Glam Squad tries to do is to help you in case there are any hair and makeup emergencies. We give each of our brides a little baggie with their lip color, a lip brush to apply the lip color with and a few extra bobby pins in case something goes wrong! So now that your hair and makeup needs will be met in case something goes wrong, I wanted to make sure that you had a few tips in case a few other things that could go wrong do go wrong.

Rain, if it starts to rain on your wedding day, don’t worry and don’t panic. The overcast that comes before and after the rain is the PERFECT lighting for photos! And no matter what people say, rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck! Not bad luck like everyone thinks!

And then what happens if something gets spilt on your dress? This is where a bridal emergency kit comes in handy! You should have a little kit prepared in case you spill a little bit of your mimosa on your dress or if someone accidentally gets some foundation or lipstick on the bodice. Because of that you should include baby wipes, a stain remover pen, and some chalk (I know that sounds weird but trust me when I say it definitely works!) So try to remove the stain as best as you can and cover up any lasting discoloration with the chalk! And if for some reason that doesn’t work, if your dress has a sash do your best to try and move the accessory to cover the stain!

Like I said before there are a lot of things that you can’t control and when you are dealing with kids that is something that is even harder to have control of! Although your flower girl is going to look adorable walking down the aisle, there might be a little stage fright for her roll in the wedding! Sometimes there is just so much excitement going on that she might need to have a little nap before the ceremony starts. And if all else fails. Find a bridesmaid or a groomsman who the flower girl knows well and have them escort her down the aisle, that way the pressure would be off of her just alone!

And what happens if your uncle gets a little drunk and starts making an embarrassing speech in front of everyone… well first off, make sure that they have no access to the microphone. But if that doesn’t work you should have a plan prepared just in case the worst thing comes to be. First you have to plan in advance who might get a little tipsy and want to make the speech (if we are being honest I am probably that sort of person at a wedding, just ask Amanda!) Having those people in the back of your mind will definitely help. And also having the DJ announce all of the speakers in advance to ensure that there is no room for people to slide in to make an unwanted speech. And if none of that works, have the DJ phase the speaker out by raising the volume of the music and turning the mic down. That way they don’t have any opportunity to say something that would truly embarrass you to no end!

But the best way to prepare for disaster? Tell yourself that no matter what at the end of the day you will be married to your best friend and just that simple fact counteracts anything that could possibly go wrong!
