It only makes sense for today’s blog post to talk about what exactly Thanksgiving is to me and my family. I think first it is extremely important to realize that you should give thanks as often as possible rather than just one day of the year. And to show appreciation for all of the things that we are blessed with in our day to day lives But It is also important to understand that Thanksgiving is a day to be a little more thankful than normal! With the fall colors in the air, the barrels of hay sitting decoratively on doorsteps, the smell of pumpkin pie wafting through the air and family surrounding you. It’s hard not to feel like you are the luckiest person in the world. So that is why I’m going to write a little thank you note to all of those I hold dear to my heart and that deserve a little extra special love and dose of thankfulness today.
Thank you for being my partner in crime and helping me run the business that makes me happy each and every single day. Thank you for keeping me organized and helping make my out of this world ideas come to life in a smart and intelligent manner. Thank you for gracing me with the most beautiful grand nephew that I could just eat up and thank you for making me laugh with your witty and sarcastic comments. And being just as in love with hair and makeup as much as I am. But most of all, thank you for being someone that I could trust, you were the first person I brought in to help me with the Glam Squad and I don’t regret sharing my baby with you and watching it grow to what it is today!
My lovely daughter, this is becoming more and more sappy the more I type but I just can’t help it. Thank you for being my best friend and giving me someone to constantly laugh with ALL the time. Thank you for bring joy into my life and being such a talented and beautiful soul! It’s not often that you get to work with your family (and it’s not often that you enjoy it) but I love being able to see your beautiful hair and makeup talent on each of your brides as well as watching you teach the Academy course’s every Monday and Wednesday night. You always wanted to be a teacher and I love getting to watch two things that you love come together so effortlessly as you teach bright eyed girls how to turn their passion for hair and makeup into art. I love ya boo boo!
My Glam Fam,
You have each become such an important part of my life and the Glam Squad wouldn’t be what it is without you as a part of it. I think people underestimate just how much of a little family we are. Thank you for sharing your talent and love for hair and makeup and all things wedding with me. I learn new things about this industry everyday and a lot of that deals with you beautiful ladies! Thank you being so creative and in good spirits every time I see you, it brightens my day so much. And that’s why I wanted to send a special thank you your way this Thanksgiving because without you the Glam Squad wouldn’t be as fabulous as it really is!
And to my lovely lovely brides,
Thank you for choosing to share your special day with us and for a short time inviting us into your family and into your traditions. Love is one of my favorite things in the world. Whether it is receiving it, giving it, or witnessing it between other people and on your wedding day I get to witness the love that you have surrounding you. Thank you for reminding me why I love what I do so much and getting to spread that bit of love over to you and your family as well. Thank you for proving to me that love stories are for real and giving me a front row seat your beautiful love story.
Not only is Thanksgiving a time for being thankful but it’s a time for traditions and in my family we love them. This holiday we are all gathering together at Amanda’s house for a feast fit for the queen and I just can’t wait for the amazing food that we are all going to chow down on! We of course stick to the usual, Turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, the whole nine yards. But we also have other traditions, one of them is going around the table and saying what we are thankful for, and another one that we love to do is to fight over who gets to break the turkey’s wishbone! It’s always hilarious to see everyone arguing over it (ok I’ll admit that I sometimes take part of that but still). That also is a prime example of just how overwhelming Thanksgiving day can be so a pro tip is to try and set some time away for yourself especially with all the craziness that can go on during family gatherings! If your family is anything like mine then they are loud and crazy and although I love them to death sometimes I need to step away with a glass of wine (or maybe a bottle) and breathe before I dive back into all of the family Thanksgiving love!
I wish I could say that we have these extravagant table settings for the food to served on however, those aren’t the sorts of things that we tend to focus on out our families Thanksgiving, we instead focus on the interactions and the love surrounding us at the table as we eat the delicious food that we all worked together together to prepare!
Wishing you a happy and love filled Thanksgiving with all of the people that you hold dearest to your heart! Enjoy these days with the ones you love and give thanks for all that you have! I definitely know I will be!
