Welcome to the Glam Fam

Lou Stevens Bridal Hair and Makeup Professional

MEET LOU

Wedding hair and makeup expert Lou Stevens has devoted her life to helping brides realize their personal style and beauty vision. With more than 26 years of wedding styling experience, Lou creates designs from modern to classic and subtle to glamorous. From the moment Lou meets a bride and hears her personal story, she begins to create and refine a look for that brides wedding and special events that is a perfect fit.

Lou wanted to work in the beauty industry ever since she was a young child, inspired by her stylist mother and Frank’s Barbershop (a one chair shop she walked past every day on her way to kindergarten in Kenosha, WI). In fact, Lou’s first business was a one chair mobile salon she ran from her home. Lou grew that service into The Glam Squad, now a leading on site hair and makeup company with more than 25 stylists. They provide full beauty services for more than 300 weddings each year.

Lou attributes her company’s success to relationship building. Her favorite part of the process is meeting the brides, hearing their love stories, and seeing them through the big day and beyond.

A pioneer in the on-site bridal beauty business, Lou has trained, taught and worked with other artists and celebrities from Chicago, to Richmond, to New York. Lou is also a sought after speaker for wedding shows, women’s group and team building seminars.

MEET AMANDA

Amanda Perry is a licensed cosmetologist, specializing in on location hair styling and makeup artistry. With over 10 years of experience, Amanda is now based in Richmond, VA as a Master Stylist and CEO with Lou Stevens Glam Squad.

Amanda grew up watching her Grandmother and her Aunt (Lou Stevens) make women beautiful and contribute to the best day of their lives, their wedding day. Encouraged by her husband, Amanda followed her true passion as a wedding hairstylist and makeup artist by attending the AVEDA Institute in Orlando, Florida. Amanda graduated as the valedictorian of her class and had the opportunity to work on the worlds largest on location photo shoot for Pageantry and Prom Time Magazines during that time.

After extensive hair and makeup training, Amanda freelanced throughout Florida with various established artists in the area, focusing on weddings. She has been featured individually as well as with Lou Stevens Glam Squad in The Knot Magazine, Southern Weddings, Richmond Weddings, Richmond Bride, Virginia Living, as well as on several blogs including Borrowed and Blue, Lover.ly, The Lovely Find and Every Last Detail.

One of the most exciting times for Amanda was when she was flipping through a current issue of BRIDES magazine, and saw that Lou Stevens Glam Squad had been named one of the Top Bridal Salons in America! It is something that she, and all the “glammies’ are very proud of!

Favorite part about special event hair styling or makeup?
Connecting with the bride at her preview or bridal portrait session. Those are usually calmer and its just us and we can get to know each other. I love asking questions about how the couple met, the proposal, and finding out all about what they have planned for the big day.

Favorite look to create?
I’m a traditionalist when it comes to makeup. I like soft, pretty and natural makeup looks – with false lashes of course. For hair I like to do curly half up styles, my nickname is the curl master because I can do it so quickly. I also really like to do polished and sleek updos. If you’re getting your hair done, I love for it to stay in place and look like its been done!

Favorite Candy?
Milky Way Midnight

You walk into Starbucks, what do you order?
If its PSL season, Pumpkin Spice Latte for sure. If not, Im usually a tea girl and I like the Green Tea Lemonade

Adding the finishing touch like a hairpiece, flowers, or tiara to the hair is my favorite part about formal styling. It’s awesome to see a bride’s face light up after you complete the look! 3 years with The Glam Squad. I’ve been doing makeup for 3 years, just recently went through & completed Glam Squad Academy for hair.

Favorite part about special event hair styling or makeup?
The best thing about special event makeup & hair styling for me is…the overall experience! Not only do I love getting to be creative through makeup & hair, I love getting to be a part of such a special day, and
making people feel and look their best!

Favorite look to create?
I love how the seasons impact makeup looks. I really love creating a good fall look for weddings…warm, bronze tones for eyes, bold lips. Then again, I also like a neutral palette with peachy tones for spring/summer. I like it all! And with hair, a curly, “messy” side bun with a braid never gets old!

Favorite candy?
Reese’s cups

Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino with caramel drizzle
