Hi everyone! Happy Monday, I hope that the weekend treated you as well as it treated us at The Glam Squad! We had a little bit of a relaxed weekend (something extremely rare for us these days!) But we had a wedding at The Quirk Hotel, a place that I love to frequent especially because it is just right around the corner from our studio.  It is such an extremely stunning location for not only preparing for a wedding, but also for just a really well made cup of coffee! One of our glammies worked on a boudoir style photoshoot that she couldn’t stop talking about this weekend, and in between the wedding and the photoshoot, Amanda and I were working a little bit behind the scenes!

Just a reminder, our next Airbrush Workshop is coming up on February 25th and we have some fun surprises in store for the Makeup Course starting March 6 with The Glam Squad Academy! SPOILER: Ryan Jones, contour extraordinaire with Japonesque will be guest teaching one of the classes to educate our students on contour and highlight! Anyone can come and learn from one of the best in the business!  Make sure you reserve your spot now because seats are extremely limited!

{If that hadn’t made you excited then I don’t know what will! Just email glamsquadacademy@gmail.com for inquires or to RSVP}

Ryan has graciously helped to kick off the list of favorites for this blog post, including some of his contouring secrets!  I have been into contouring for a while, but as it has become more and more common, I find myself looking for the best products.  Without a doubt my favorite thing to contour with is my airbrush machine. The lines are so clean and it looks natural and extremely crisp! Of course not everyone has one of those laying around (unless you attend one of our Airbrush Workshops).  That is going to be the easiest way for you to contour in my opinion.  What’s the second best technique? It’s something that you can get at the drugstore and it is NYX’s Wonder Stick. It is a contour and highlight stick and it is so easy to use! This simplifies contouring in the best way, all you have to do is sweep the contour stick across your cheek bones and then blend.  The only negative of this product is that it is probably the most simplistic way to contour and you won’t have that Kardashian look! (and even though some people think that that look is a bit extreme… they do have some great contouring makeup artists!)

Another favorite product of mine, really more of a entire brand, is Mac’s Smack! To be completely honest, I am absolutely OBSESSED!  Not only with the products, but also with the owner, McKenzie as well! We met a few weeks ago and we are so excited to partner up with her and offer special Mac’s Smack treats to our Glam Fam brides!  What is important to mention if you have never heard of this brand, is that it is all organically made with formula’s based off of research done by McKenzie herself!

She has an amazing collection, and if you know me then you know how much I love nice smelling things and each and everyone of her products smells delicious! Flower Power for example doubles as a toner AND a setting spray.  I can’t think of anything better for a makeup artist to have in her makeup arsenal  I’m also in love with anything that is pretty… so for it to be in a pretty package is sweet little a bonus!

People who know me also know how much I love essential oils too, and although this normally isn’t really considered an “essential” oil…it is quite possibly essential for me, is the Transcend Elixir Youth Enhancing Serum. I use it practically every day and I love the way that it makes my face feel!

But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t fall head over heels in love with McKenzie’s product called Fairy Glam. It is the most amazing lip balm with… wait for it.. flakes of gold glitter within the balm itself! How much more Glam Squad can you get?? It is literally the most perfect thing EVER and the packaging? Well it is just as stunning as it sounds!

These are a just a few of my favorite products and techniques right now.   The thing that really makes me love each and everyone of these products just a little bit more is that they are all cruelty free and are not tested on animals! If you give any of these projects a try please let me know!

So tell me, what’s your favorite “must have” product of the moment?
