Matrimonial Monday: Elizabeth

May 29, 2017

Hey y’all it’s Lou’s Daughter, Malory!! Today I am hijacking the blog because I just HAVE to tell you about my wedding last weekend that was such a blast from the past! I had the honor of doing hair and makeup for my very best childhood friend, Elizabeth Houff

Elizabeth and I met in Mrs. Costello’s first grade class at Tuckahoe Elementary. It was 1996 and Tamagotchi’s, Dunkaroos and Spice girls were probably the most important things in life. We loved the Spice Girls so much, we would pretend to be them during recess (I was Posh, she was Baby). We grew up together and shared so many laughs. We went to the same school for about 7 years, until I had to move to Chesterfield for 9th grade. I was devastated.

We stayed in touch over the years here and there but as we all know, life happens and people drift apart. As you can imagine, I was beyond thrilled when I bumped into her at the Richmond Weddings Bridal Show at Altria Theatre last year. I crossed my fingers that she would hire the Glam Squad to do her bridal hair and makeup and low and behold, she did!

Getting her ready at Amber Grove this past Saturday was such a heartwarming feeling. I never imagined growing up that I would be given the opportunity to make one of my longest friends feel their absolute best on her wedding day.

She was so relaxed and excited to marry Joe, whom she met at Longwood University. I thought it was so precious how they agreed not to get each other a gift, but he got her an AMAZING professional camera anyway (make sure you click on the link above to view some of her photos!)

She about died and wasn’t sure whether to be excited about the camera or mad that he broke their agreement. OH, and don’t even get me started on the note that Joe wrote, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

I could tell how very much in love these two are by Elizabeth’s excitement and demeanor throughout the day. I’m so grateful that she has found her soulmate and wish them nothing but the best. I am also grateful that their marriage has rekindled Elizabeth and I’s friendship and we can hopefully look forward to many more years of laughs to come!
