Team Thursday: Glam Squad Grads

October 27, 2016

We recently celebrated the graduation of our students of from the Glam Squad Academy and the celebration is still going strong! Our basic makeup course was definitely a success and the students succeeded fabulously! Of course just like any course the students had to complete a final exam. This exam consisted of them doing a natural makeup look on a model that was assigned to them and we even graded them on their ability to place lashes!

It was to be able to play judge with Malory, who plans all of the lessons and taught the course so well that we have hired some of our recent graduates as new glammies! These courses allow for us to teach our techniques to people who share the same passion for makeup, hair and all things beauty. Each week the classes were just so energetic and fun and some weeks we would even have surprise guests come in to talk to the class in different specialities!

One week we had Jenny McQueen come in to teach about how to take the perfect photo for instagram. Another week we had a class on contouring hosted by the ever fabulous Ryan Jones and I even came and taught the class some of my tips and tricks of the trade!

The academy allows for a group of creatives to get together and learn from one another! The thing that I love the most about hosting the academy is being able to share my love for what I do with each person that walks into the room, and to see that love poured right back out.

Our most recent Glammie Jane (check out last weeks Team Thursday to learn a little bit about her!!) went through the academy and her testimonial about the class couldn’t be more true or more of a reason to utilize these sorts of opportunities!

“In this competitive industry, it can be difficult to find a place where you have the resources and support you need to truly succeed in a positive, warm atmosphere.  I feel that Lou Stevens offers that and so much more which is why I love being a part of the company! You all take the time to make sure we exceed our own expectations of ourselves.  Both the academy classes and one on one tips  have helped me to become a better stylist. It’s wonderful to know that I’m working for people who want to see me improve and succeed just as much as I do.  I first became interested in joining the glam fam when some of my cosmetology school friends talked with me about how much they loved working for Lou Stevens Glam Squad”

And that was the goal in the creation of the Glam Squad Academy as well as the goal moving forward with our other classes! Our orientation for the next Glam Squad Academy is approaching quickly and so is the last date to sign up. This session is all about hair! If you’ve looked at our instagram you’ve seen that braided updos are definitely the thing right now and we would love to teach you! Email glamsquadacademy@gmail.com for any questions you may have! You can never have too much passion for what you love to do!
