The Best Beauty Products to Beat the Heat

July 3, 2017

A few weeks ago I talked about different hairstyles to help beat the heat, for both every day life and for your wedding day, and since then I’ve had quite a few questions about what makeup products I use to prevent feeling like you are melting in a wax museum! If you are in an area like we are, most days it feels like your makeup is slowly slipping off your face because of the humidity and temperature. For those of you with summer weddings we understand that that is a huge concern, which is why we make sure to prime your face, and use the airbrush technique for a light weight foundation that has amazing coverage. But you can’t really use airbrush makeup everyday which is why there are certain products that I reach for during the summer months.

If your makeup routine doesn’t change during the summer, then you might just be doing  something wrong. For many people, your skin changes during these seasons, winter for example, normally being known as  the time of dryer skin, which means moisturize moisturize and moisturize. Because of the cold you are able to put more product on your face, however if you use as much foundation as you do in the winter during the summer you will look like the Wicked Witch of the WEst after Dorothy threw water at her…believe me, I’ve been there!

The best remedy to avoid that not so popular melting look is BB cream. BB cream gives you all of the coverage that foundation can provide, but it is much lighter and airier on your skin. Instead of just resting on your face, the cream soaks into your skin like a moisturizer, which is why a BB Cream is also known as a tinted moisturizer. This BB cream in particular starts off white and then as you rub it onto your skin it changes to match your particular skin tone, which is great for those of us who tan easily.

However, if the thought of a tinted moisturizer scares you just a little bit you can opt for just a normal moisturizer. The sun, paired with chlorine or ocean water can really dry out your skin so a moisturizer (extra points if it has SPF) is something very important to have as a part of your summer skin routine.

It’s also so important to pay attention to your lips and not neglect them. Lips tend to get much drier in the winter because of the cold air which is why when summer rolls around we usually forget to moisturize our lips as much as we should. But just because the suns out, doesn’t mean that our chapstick and lip balms go away. And if we are being completely honest I probably have one of Mac’sSmack fairy glam lip balms in every single purse or bag that I own because it is light, smells amazing, and well… glam!

The most important product for summer though, is hands down rose water. This one from Juice Beauty is one that I use often and I also switch it out with Mac’sSmack Flower Power!  I honestly carry a bottle of rose water in my purse with me to spray on my face throughout the day. This also helps to keep your skin hydrated, while setting your foundation and keeping your face cool and fresh without rinsing off all of the makeup that you spent so much time applying.

What are some of your favorite products to use to beat the heat but still feel a little glam? Let us know in the comments! And make sure you join us for a very special day this coming Friday as we team up with the team over at Mac’sSmack for a First Friday Pop up Shop!
