Did you know you’re supposed to clean your makeup brushes once a month AT LEAST? A lot of experts suggest doing it once a week even. It’s easy to forget how it important it is to wash your brushes and sponges regularly but if you don’t you increase the risk of bacteria and even mold in the sponges building up! You can buy brush shampoos at Target and other drug stores. The one by NYX is great, or you can follow these easy steps to purify your makeup tools!
1. Using warm to hot (not scalding hot, though) water, begin by rinsing the makeup out of the bristles!
2. Using a mild bar soap or brush shampoo, gently work a lather through the ends to the tops of the brush hair, and even down the handle for extra precaution!
3. Rinse thoroughly to make sure no soapy residue is left!
4. Lay out on a towel to air-dry or use a blow dryer on a low setting!
