While the wedding industry is debatably one of the most stressful industries to be a part of, I mean, we are are setting people up for their future lives and all that that may entail, it is probably the most rewarding industry to be a part of. Although there is a vast amount of blood, sweat, and tears to make that day perfect, in the end it is completely worth it to see the joy that is spread across one of our bride’s face when she looks in the mirror before stepping into her wedding gown.
My favorite part about working in the industry though will always be the relationships that I build with my brides, and seeing the relationships that the Glammies make with the brides. It takes a certain level of trust to hire someone to make sure that that special days goes according to plan. Over the course of the past 27 years, I have been fortunate enough to meet so many incredible people. And for those of you who know me even in the slightest bit, you know that love stories are one of my very favorite parts of what I get to do! Every bride that the Glam Squad has worked with has a unique story. They all come from different cultures, family backgrounds, and all have impacted my life more than they can even imagine
This past weekend my Glam Squad had the honor of glamming up Shana’s and her beautiful bridal party. Shana’s love story was definitely one for the books especially because there has been a lot of doubt about love at first sight lately! Though many people still believe that type of love and Shana is one of the lucky few who have gotten to experience it. Shana met her fiancé online, like so many other people are these days. She was a busy med student who didn’t have time to really meet anyone in person so she left her fate in the hands of the inter web.
Shana’s first date with her now husband took place at an ice cream shop, she had already been on a few dates with some of her other online matches, this one was different. At the time she was her now husband’s first date with a match and despite not really knowing what to expect both knew right away that they shared something special. They went on a few more dates just to make sure that what they were feeling was still there and when they found that it still was the love that the two shared only became stronger!
Around a year after meeting at the ice cream shot he popped the question. The ring used propose to being extremely special Shana’s husband’s family. The story of the ring begs for romance and I had chills when Shana told me that her mother-in-law smuggled the ring from Cuba in her pony when she was seven years old. The ring has been in his family for many years and it’s legacy will continue to live on during the duration of the happy couple’s marriage.
Not only was it love at first sight for Shana and her husband, but it was love at first sight with her stunning all lace gown as well. Although she tried on multiple others, she couldn’t stop thinking about the way the first dress made her feel. When she told us that story all of us couldn’t help but swoon as Ellen Topham with Mike Topham Photography, one of her photographer’s, snapped a picture of her happy expression.
As Dana put the final touches on Shana look by swiping a beautiful pink shade of lipstick onto her lips, and Malory pinned her veil under her beautiful hairpiece, we sent them on their way and they headed over to the Bridal Suite of The Renaissance Ballroom. One of the best feelings for all of us at the Glam Squad is to watch a bride be so happy with her hair and makeup, knowing that in just a short amount of time her life will be changed forever as she says “I do” and steps into the happily ever after that she has always dreamed of!
