Hey y’all!

Amanda here, and I am so excited to update you on Lou Stevens Glam Squad Academy!  We held our Airbrush Makeup Workshop this past Saturday and it was so much fun!  Lou and I love these workshops and Academy courses because we are able to really connect with talented aspiring makeup artists and hair stylists in a more intimate environment where we can really get hands on and help one-on-one.  We limit our class sizes so that you get the most out of your experience with us and really walk away feeling accomplished.  For us, Lou Stevens Glam Squad Academy was created to be able to grow new, successful stylists, not just to be a factory churning out unsuccessful students.  The workshops are a great way to pick and choose areas of focus for each person, and if you need a more well rounded course then the Bridal Makeup and Bridal Hairstyling courses are more in depth and for you.

Saturday we all gathered at The Shoppes at the Renaissance for the Airbrush Workshop.  The students all came in, found their name tags, and went to find their seats.  Waiting for them at each seat was a Lou Stevens Glam Squad tote bag with their goodies for the workshop inside.  Lou and I just love being able to create an awesome experience for the workshops and classes and little extras like this are what its all about.

After watching a few instructional videos we’ve created especially for this course, Lou began her live demo on our model.  It’s great to be able to see something on video, see it on a power point, and then see it live before practicing to really drill the point home of how to do something.  We learn by repetition and this was a great way to demonstrate what the girls would be doing in practicing with their new airbrush systems.

During our time together, we all got to share some of our favorite products too which is always a super fun part of getting together with other makeup lovers.  We talked about the new LORAC spring palette that just hit the shelves, Tarte amazonian clay foundation (which I ran out to Ulta to get for myself yesterday), the new Urban Decay primer and setting sprays, and the of course our favorite go to, the Carli Bybel highlight and contour palette.  Talking makeup has to be one of the best parts of the day!

In our workshop, you get to be a model and a student so you get to feel what its like on both sides of the spectrum.  It’s important for all artists to know what their client is experiencing and we love to help provide an environment where we can make that happen.  After plenty of practice on themselves and rotating to work on others in the class, each artist left with the confidence to be able to use the airbrush system!  In our airbrush workshop, included in the cost of the course is being able to keep the airbrush compressor kit plus a set of 8 customizable full size foundations and a bottle of cleaner.  Our goal with the workshops is to set you up for success when you leave our building.

This was the last workshop that will be held in our current studio space, before moving upstairs to our WINDOW FRONT CORNER on Broad St and Adams St!!!!!  To say we are excited for the move is an understatement.  We cant wait to have a studio set up for the Academy, a side set up for our wonderful brides-to-be, and a beautiful new space for a dressing area as a bridal suite for brides choosing to get ready at our studio.  We’re also working on a room for aesthetician services so that we can offer brow maintenance, facials, waxing, and permanent eyelash extensions to get you ready for your big day!  Make sure you are on the newsletter list so you can get an exclusive invitation to our grand opening party and come check out our new home.
