A Day at Safe Harbour!

January 12, 2016

It has been my mission to inspire our team serve our community, and in particularly single mothers… So, Once every month myself and few of our Glammies volunteer to pack up our make-up and hair supplies for a day of Glam at Safe Harbor women’s shelter.

Today Jenelle and Tamika volunteered to share their time and talents!

I am so proud of these young artists for genuinely caring and going above and beyond to not only glam-ify, but “connect” with these young survivors and brighten their day.

Pictured is Leah… A volunteer at Safe Harbor that was sent over by the shelters director to ask me about possibly training and an apprenticeship with Lou Stevens Glam Squad.

I love pampering young women, but helping another single mom start a career in my field?… Well, it just doesn’t get better than that.

This young beautiful lady has suffered brain damage and some deafness due to meningitis. Her mother Mary is not allowed to be photographed because of safe Harbor House rules. But, Mary was so emotional the whole time I was doing the hair and make up for her daughter as well as herself. Mary told me stories of the specific type of abuse she suffered from her single mother in the past. It touched my heart very genuinely to witness the sweet caring relationship she has with her own daughter now. It was such a blessing to give “mother and daughter” makeovers to these two kind hearts!
