I have sat down to try and write this blog post all week, but I was so overwhelmed with excitement that I wasn’t able to even put it into words. I have finally calmed down enough now to talk about The Preview Event that The Glam Squad hosted for Diner En Blanc.

Diner En Blanc is an international event that originated in Paris, France in 1988 when a Frenchman by the name of François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at Bois de Boulogne and asked them to wear white so they could find each other. Francois son then brought the Diner to Montreal, turning it into the phenomenon that it is today. The event now spans across six continents and guests flash gather in location unknown until the arrival to enjoy quality food and wine among friends. And this summer the event is being held in Richmond for the first time ever and we were extremely honored to host the Preview Event for Diner En Blanc.

Glammies, Dana, Jane, and Kimmy worked together to style hair and makeup for the models that were walking in the fashion show. The fashion show demonstrated different outfit and attire options for both men and women to wear to the Dinner, because the dress code is very specific. While the look that most people go for is more avant guard, the attire must be strictly white, not eggshell or ivory but white. And some of the hair and makeup looks that we created showcased just that. One of my favorites from the evening had to have been an Audrey Hepburn inspired look that Dana created that just looked so elegant especially paired with her amazing gown. 

But the most out there look had to have been the white glitter lips that Jane mixed colors and lip glosses to create a white lip that just popped beyond belief. When we were first told of this idea I’ll have to admit that we were in fact just a little scared, because as bridal makeup artists we don’t usually get asked for a white lip so we don’t carry white lipstick in our kits. But Jane and Dana brainstormed and were able to come up with a way to make this look happen for the event. 

Along with the fashion show the event was filled with vendors including Dillards, Rider Boot Company, Champagne from Moet, Hummingbird Macaroons and Desserts, Shoe Crazy Wine, Dany Schutte with The American Cheese Society, Shannon of CEO Magazine,  The Flower Guy Bron and Belmont Butchery. There were 200 people milling around and gathered inside of the studio eating, drinking, and getting excited for the actual Diner En Blanc Event. And I am very excited to attend in my all white attire to enjoy food and wine with some lovely friends!
