Matrimonial Monday: Kristen

March 6, 2017

Hey y’all, its Amanda stepping in to guest blog today!  I had the pleasure of being a part of one of the sweetest weddings this past weekend along with Lou and just couldn’t wait to share!

Lou Stevens Glam Squad was built on a passion for special event hair and makeup combined with a strong family dynamic. We love that we have been able to make a career out of doing what we love, and Kristen and her family reminded me why I got into the business in the first place.  What we do is so much more than pretty hair and makeup.  It’s a feeling, its a service, and its something that we are so blessed to be able to touch other peoples lives with.

When Kristen and her ladies came in for her bridal preview just two days before her wedding (Kristen lives in Nashville and its common for our out of town brides to do the preview the week of the wedding), it was especially magical because they were the first group Lou was able to bring into our new studio!  One of our favorite parts about any preview is getting to know the brides story, and right away Kristen started gushing over how she met her fiancĂ© Brandon and how important it was for her to be able to share her special day with her close knit family.  During Kristen’s preview, a little girl ran up to our studio window, pressing her face up against the glass. Her eyes widened in awe as she looked around at all of the colorful makeup palettes and hair tools that filled the studio. Lou was reminded so much of her own childhood walking past a one chair barber shop window.. Those memories were what inspired Lou to start her own business and we hope that in return through the Lou Stevens Glam Squad Academy courses and workshops, we can help the people that walk by our window find their passion and realize their dreams as well.

I want to back up a second and fill you in on something special about Kristen and her family.  We were contacted just a few weeks prior to the big day by a colleague in the wedding community to help with a bride who was moving up her wedding from October 2017 to March 2017.  We didn’t really know any details, but of course Lou and I were excited to help and without hesitation said we would volunteer to do it ourselves.  It seems to us that if there was a reason that the wedding was being pushed up, and we were asked to be a part of it, it was the least we could do.

When we found out a little more about the wedding, we realized what a small world it was and that Kristen’s family is a part of our church family at Commonwealth Chapel.  Kristen’s younger brother, Beckett, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewings Sarcoma several months ago, and due to the unpredictable nature of childhood cancer, they wanted to make sure Beckett was able to celebrate with them in style!   To learn more about Beckett and his family, visit https://www.gofundme.com/29tytfdw.  Kristen and Brandon also donated a portion of their wedding day gifts to the Sarcoma Foundation (https://www.curesarcoma.org/donate/).   Lou and I are so filled with faith, and we are praying in a big way for continued healing along with a whole bunch of others on #TeamBeckett!

An amazing family and network on brides side helped Kristen out with lots of the details to pull off the big day.  Lou and I, along with the Doubletree Hotel on Midlothian Turnpike, Strawberry Fields Flowers and Finds, Paisley and Jade, Debonaire Entertainment (DJ Hunter), and IK Catering were able to execute an incredible wedding with a reception at Strangeways Brewing in less than a month.

Kristen was absolutely stunning in her vintage style twisted updo, her shimmery natural eye, and perfect pink pout.  Im sure when Brandon saw her come down the aisle, he was beyond excited to see how beautiful she looked!  Kristen’s bridesmaids all wore deep purple dresses and her little sisters got to be a part of the day as well getting hair and makeup done, jumping on the bed, and of course eating lots of snacks to prep for the big day ahead.

To Kristen and Brandon and their whole family, thank you so much for allowing Lou and myself to be a part of your special day in a small way.  We had the absolute best time with the ladies getting all glammed up and we’ve enjoyed seeing photos pop up on social media from the rest of the day!  We wish you all the best of luck in your new life as a married couple in Nashville.  Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Ivory!!!

xoxo Amanda
