Must Haves: Make-up Remover
October 23, 2014
Okay, we are ALL guilty of this, but it’s actually really terrible for our skin..
Sleeping in our makeup.
You wake up looking like a raccoon, your face feels greasy and your eyelash are clumped together..
No bueno.
Regardless of what your beauty regimen is, removing your makeup and washing your face should be the first step before and after a long day of makeup wear.
Why should you remove makeup and wash your face?
Here are some of the cons of sleeping with your makeup on:
- When the CEO of the Clear brand was asked about the side effects of not washing makeup off, he said, “Sleeping in your makeup can result in unnecessary exposure to the free radicals in the environment, which the makeup holds on to,” says Dr. Schweiger. “Free radicals cause the breakdown of healthy collagen, which results in fine lines on the skin. Additionally, makeup can clog the pores while you sleep, resulting in the development of acne.”
- Each night you sleep in your makeup, you are clogging your pores even more!
- Those before free radicals mentioned above.. they cause premature aging.. WRINKLES!
- Mascara and eyeliner can be rubbed by your pillow and end up in your eyes, which can lead to significant eye irritation!
- Sleeping in eye makeup can clog pores! It can cause irritation and styes!
- “Foundations and thick, oil-based primers are often the worst offenders,” says Dr. Gilbert. “They prevent the skin from renewing itself naturally at night, causing blackheads, acne and dullness.”
Here’s an idea, ladies.. Keep makeup remover pads by your bed so at night you have NO excuse!
Ugh, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want stye’s and I DEFINITELY do not want wrinkles already! WASH YOUR MAKEUP OFF, ladies!!
