For most people Monday’s are a drag, your work day can start on a Tuesday, but for some reason when you go to bed Sunday night you dread waking up to your alarm on Monday morning. This Sunday was definitely a hard one to let come to an end, and the Christmas spirit is slowly drowning out and today… this Monday is probably one of the hardest ones of the year! And because of how hard things are for most people on a Monday I try to start the weeks blog posts with some motivation. And with the New Year just a few days a way I think the best advice I can give is ways to simplify your life.

Life is so complicated as it is, and normally we don’t do that much to help (believe me sometimes I am my own worst enemy! But I look pretty good in those devil horns!) But anyways, I used to focus on every little thing that would happen, and I tried my hardest to control anything and everything that I would encounter. And I was literally (ok not literally) pulling my hair out when something was totally out of my control. So I sat down and said, “Lou you need to make a change,” and I didn’t say it in one of those way where you say I’m going to go on a diet and then stuff your face, because lets be honest we are all guilty of that. Instead I made sure I wrote down a list of ways that I could make things simpler, and to make myself live in the now. I didn’t want to focus on the negative things in my past, or what was going to happen in the next few days. I wanted to be in the present. And ever since I made that decision I have loved life ten times more and I wanted to share some of the things that I do everyday to make sure that the positivity is always there.

First of all, we have to slow down, we can’t always be in constant motion and expect to be your best self. Eventually you’ll get drained and crash. You may think that you have been doing a lot of things and cutting down your to do list because you are go go go. But slowing down can actually make sure that get MORE done! And you get it done with less stress!

I’m sure that you have all heard the phrase “Don’t sweat the small stuff” well when you actually don’t sweat the small stuff you would be amazed by how relaxed your life will become! Most of the time we tend to major and the minors. And what that means is we pay attention to the things that don’t really matter in the long run the most! Which is why you focus on the major and… don’t sweat the small stuff!

Have you ever walked through your house and all of a sudden you have been taken over by just how much stuff you have? That is me EVERY day. I am such a hoarder, it is disgusting. I have things that I don’t want to ever get rid of because I have weird little memories attached to a lot of things. But if we are being honest they aren’t my best memories, they are just little things that are hard to part with. So I deep cleaned, I went through everything and decided if there was a need for it or not. If you decide to declutter make sure you have someone there to help you out! Particularly someone who doesn’t have any attachment to your items to help because you have no idea how hard it is! However after you have cleaned things out, you will feel so much lighter and happier when you walk through your house.

But I think the most important thing I have done to simplify my life is learning how to say “No.” It’s not always easy. And sometimes I still struggle with saying it. But you can’t always say yes, and you can’t please everyone and please yourself at the same time. And at the end of the day.. you have to live with yourself forever not with anyone else. So say yes to the things that you want to say yes to, and no to the things you don’t want to do! At the end of the day you will be so much happier and feel such contentment with your life.

Life is hard as it is. So I made the decision to be my biggest supporter and make things simpler in my day to day routine and ever since, my relationships, the Glam Squad and myself have thanked me for it!
