The Inside

November 16, 2017

With social media being so prominent in everyone’s lives now a days it’s hard to not compare yourself to what you see on facebook or instagram. When it comes to those platforms, you are only getting a glimpse into the day-to-day happenings of an individual’s life, you aren’t getting any of the bad, you simply only see what a person wants you to see, and most of the times that is a celebration of the good. It’s something that we are all extremely guilty of, and sometimes it’s hard not to compare yourself and your life to the people around you. Because of that I try and be as transparent as possible, not only on social media, but here on the blogs, and when I meet people at networking events.

When it comes to the Glam Squad what you see is what you get. We work in an industry that is fueled by love, and we bring that love into every single bride, networking programs, styled shoots, and events.

With almost 14 weddings each weekend of October we were fully immersed in the busy season that every wedding professional experiences! But all that we could focus on was the love between the bride and groom, and our love and passion for hair and makeup!  So when we sat down during the first week of November for our staff meeting we decided that it is time to start hiring for the upcoming season. And talking about  that got me thinking…. wouldn’t you want to know what it is really like in a work environment before you enter it? Wouldn’t you want the inside scoop?

Well, that’s exactly what you are going to get..right here….right now!

When I tell people we have a team of over 25 stylists, and that we are constantly growing and looking to expand and helping to grow the passion of hair stylists and makeup artists, I always get the same sort of look. And that look is one that asks a very silent question “how catty must that work environment be.” Which, to be honest is fair question, but the answer tends to surprise people. It isn’t catty at all!

We call ourselves the Glam Fam for a reason, and that’s because the Glam Squad started with my family. The first “glammie” was my niece, and then from there we expanded to have my sister as a glammie, my daughter is a glammie, and my future daughter in law is a glammie too! So by having so many of my family members in the mix it only came naturally to treat each and every stylist that joins the team as a member of the family as well.

The girls that you will meet and work with for weddings or events like Richmond Fashion Week are the most supportive and caring girls you will ever meet. We all know that each and everyone of us has something unique to teach to one another and in turn to learn as well and that respect and love for one another is truly what makes the Glam Squad such a special place and group of women to be a part of.

So when you interview with us you aren’t just entering a work environment where you walk in and sit behind a desk. When you stand behind that salon chair, you have 30 other women who share your passions, your dreams, and your goals standing behind you and cheering you on. So when the days come that aren’t so instagram worthy, or don’t make a good photo opt come, you have women who will be there by your side through the ups and the downs because we aren’t just there for the celebrations, we are here for the tough times that social media doesn’t know about.
