Wedding Wednesday: Emily

October 4, 2017

Hey y’all!  Amanda here, taking over the blog for Wedding Wednesday today!  I’ll try and keep this short, but hang with me, I swear the images at the end are worth all the reading!

Meet Emily…

I met Emily when she was a bridesmaid for her best friend Lauren’s wedding at Berry Hill in 2015.  I remember doing her hair and being in love with the classic style she chose as a bridesmaid and just really enjoyed having her in my chair that day.   We connected on social media and I’d been following her to see when she was going to have her turn as the bride.  Emily is the absolute definition of a classic southern bride and I could not have been more excited to hear from her after she got engaged to Mark!

When Mark popped the question, it wasn’t long before Emily reached out to me to see if I was available for her wedding day. Now, let me remind you, this was almost a year in advance (maybe even more if we are being honest!)  And let me tell you, all those wedding planning timelines that say you can wait to book your hair and makeup vendor, they are wrong and girls like Emily appreciate the importance of looking your very best on the big day.  I was thrilled to hear from her and confirm my availability for her special request.

She had told me that no one had ever done her hair the way that I had for Lauren’s wedding, made it last, and have it stay perfect all through the night and that there was no way she was getting married without me being there to glam her up.  I was so humbled, and y’all, this is why we do what we do.  Brides like Emily make this a job not feel so much like work, but rather getting to spend the day with a friend.  It’s my honor to be able to make friends with the bride, be there by her side on the best day ever, and form relationships that might last a few weeks or even a few years.  Emily and Lauren are the sweetest girls and I hope there are more weddings in their future or events when we can all connect again!

But let’s get back to Emily’s wedding prep and her wedding day!  We met for her preview session earlier this summer at the Glam Squad Studio and when she showed me her inspiration photos I was immediately in love.  Classic chignon styles with a twist, lots of volume, and classic elegance for makeup ( think Kate Middleton inspired ).  My heart skipped a beat a little because that polished style is my FAVORITE to create!  I could tell right away that this southern bride was one who appreciated a classic look, so I couldn’t wait to get started and give her exactly what she’d envisioned.  With her mom in the room with us, we nailed the look during her bridal trial right away!  We chose a deeper Colour Pop lip stain for her so that she didn’t have to worry about touch ups all night.  Add that gorgeous color to a simple smoky eye with a slight shimmer courtesy of Urban Decay and top it all off with some false lashes for extra drama for the camera, and you have yourself a perfectly polished southern bride.

I could literally go on and on about how much fun I had with Emily and the ladies getting ready, but I know you want to see the pictures so I’ll cut myself off!  I want to give a special thanks to glammies Kimmy and Alisha, for coming along and tackling this big wedding party with me and embarking an en epic Glam Squad Road Trip to South Boston.

Emily – thank you so much for including me on you special day and for being an absolute joy to work with.  I cant wait to see where life takes you and Mark next and I am always just a phone call away when its time for the next big event!  Love you girl and congratulations and best wishes to the new Mr and Mrs!!!!

Here are some of my absolute favorite images that Meredith Sledge Photography  took of Emily and Mark at their Berry Hill wedding earlier this month!
